Visa Card Usage Campaign
VISA RWANDA USE AND WIN CAMPAIGN
In 2011, Visa was breaking ground in Rwanda. One of the biggest challenges was introducing cashless transactions in an economy that had up to that point been heavily reliant on cash transaction.
By 2015, uptake and usage was still low with cashless transactions still in the 10% range. Visa, in partnership with I&M Bank decided to launch a use and win campaign. This three months campaign included partnerships with merchants to promote and encourage card payments in return for an instant discount for the user.
Within a year, card transactions tripled and the number of people registering for cards increase be 30%.
